1 to 4 hours
Anaesthesia
Local or general
Hospital stay
Day case to 2 nights
Recovery
Guided healing over 3 to 6 weeks
Reconstruction is planned before the excision: the design of the flap determines the quality of the final result. The techniques used favour nearby tissue, whose colour and texture match the area to be reconstructed.
On the face, the challenge is twofold: restoring function (eyelid, lip, nostril) and making the scar acceptable.
The protocol, step by step.
- Step 1
Assessment
Evaluation of the tissue loss and of the aesthetic units involved.
- Step 2
Design
Choice of the flap and anticipation of the lines of tension.
- Step 3
Surgery
Excision, reconstruction and shaping in one or two stages.
- Step 4
Scar revision
A touch-up is possible at six months to refine the result.
