Prepare, understand, recover.
The practical information given at the practice, gathered here: documents to bring, instructions before and after a procedure, fees and reimbursement.
Post-operative instructions
See the section with the post-operative documents (in French).
Before the consultation
A well-prepared consultation lets the time available go to what matters: your assessment and your options.
Documents to bring
Identity card, health insurance sticker, a letter from your doctor or dentist, recent imaging (panoramic X-ray, CT scan, CBCT) and a list of your current treatments.
Medical history to report
Clotting disorders, diabetes, high blood pressure, allergies, smoking, sleep apnoea and any previous facial surgery.
Preparing your questions
Write down your expectations and concerns. A precise functional complaint (breathing, chewing, vision) often guides the diagnosis.
Before the procedure
You receive precise instructions in writing; these summarise the principles that always apply.
Stopping smoking
You are asked to stop at least four weeks before and four weeks after surgery: smoking compromises healing and the blood supply to tissue flaps.
Medication and fasting
Aspirin, anti-inflammatories and supplements with an anticoagulant effect are stopped on medical advice. You must fast for six hours before a general anaesthetic.
Practical arrangements
Arrange for someone to take you home, clothes that open at the front, and time off work, whose length is estimated at consultation.
After the procedure
Recovery is part of the result: it follows a written protocol and scheduled reviews.
Swelling and bruising
Swelling peaks between the second and third day, then settles. Ice, keeping the head raised and relative rest reduce it.
Scar care
Gentle cleansing, strict sun protection for twelve months and scar massage once the surgeon agrees. A scar keeps changing for up to eighteen months.
When to message us
Fever, increasing pain, active bleeding, sudden asymmetry or a visual disturbance justify an immediate WhatsApp message to the practice.
Fees and reimbursement
Costs are made clear before any decision, in writing and without obligation.
Written quote
Every surgical plan comes with a detailed quote: fees, anaesthesia, operating theatre and any VAT for aesthetic procedures.
Health insurance cover
Functional or oncological procedures are partly reimbursed by Belgian health insurance. Purely aesthetic procedures are paid by the patient.
Time to reflect
At least fifteen days are allowed between the consultation and an aesthetic procedure. No deposit is requested before then.
